2016 Youth Tour Contest

Cimarron Electric Cooperative hosted a banquet on March 23rd honoring its 2016 Youth Tour finalist and their families. From 156 entries, 7 finalist made it to banqet and the final leg of competition. Each finalist went through an interview process with a panel of judges. They were judged on their knowledge of rural electric cooperatives, speaking ability, poise, personality and appearance. After the interviews, they also competed in a game show type type contest where they answered some more questions about Cimarron and the cooperative programs.

After enjoying a meal together, everyone anxiously awaited the judges decisions. The winners wer Jack Lafferty of Watonga, Rachel Yost of Lomega and Caleb Smith of Cashion.  Ethan Sacket was chosen as the alternate. Jack is the son of Todd and Allison Lafferty, Rachel is the daughter of Jeff and Melanie Yost and Caleb is the son of Shane and Sara Smith. Sierra is the daughter of Phil Harney, Ethan is the son of Gary and Ruth Sacket, , Emily is the daughter of Billy and Sandy Murray and Buddy is the grandson of Marilyn Pickle.

Often called the trip of a lifetime, the three high school juniors will explore the nation's capital on an expense paid trip. They will meet up with approximatly 70 other Oklahoma winners from other rural electric cooperatives. They will gather in June with approximatly 1700 other students from across the U.S. They will learn and tour historic sights and museums.
